ART lesson for Week of May 18-22
SOUP CANS AS ART: This week we are going to follow Andy Warhol’s style of POP ART. Andy began creating paintings, and in 1961 introduced the concept of POP ART paintings of commercial products. Pop Art was an art movement from the 1950’s-1960’s, where artists drew their inspiration from comics, movie stars, and store-bought products like cans. This was a new and different direction for the art world. In 1962, Warhol debuted his famous Campbell’s soup can painting. He also did paintings of Coca-Cola bottles, animals and flowers. THis week I would like you to give his style a try by drawing, coloring, and or painting any kind of canned food you can find in your kitchen. Remember to send a photo of your art to my email address so that it can get published in our Virtual Artist book. [email protected] And check out my website for samples of Andy Warhol's Pop Art! http://smebackjcpart.weebly.com/ OH YEAH!! BE CREATIVE and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! |
